About Trinity Singers

The choir started by bringing together the church choirs of severalr local Parishes for special events.

Following that initial success the then Vicar of Burrington and Churchill, Rev.. John Abdy, together with organist and choir master Jeremy Martin, decided to make the choir a permanent feature and it took the name 'Trinity Singers' in January 1999.

Gradually the choir programme has broadened to a mixture of sacred and secular music at concerts and services.

Over the years concerts have been presented in many local churches and other venues, including many collaborations with Churchill Academy, and a tour to Florence.

In 2015 Andrew Tyrrell was appointed Musical Director. Andrew had previously written a specially commissioned piece in memory of our founder, John Abdy. Under Andrew’s direction the choir further widened its repertoire and improved both in overall sound and rhythmically (Andrew being a percussionist!).  Andrew stepped down in March 2026.

To take us through the summer of 2026 we were delighted to have as a guest conductor Alison Blundell - well known to us as a fantastic accompanist to many of our concerts. She steered us through one of our shorter afternoon concerts in Yatton which was followed by tea and many, many cakes), and also conducted us for our visit to the Hawthorn's Retirement Village in Clevedon.

After careful consideration we are delighted to have appointed Simon Lovell-Jones as our new MD. Simon has a long and illustrious career in music, including Director of Music at Llandaff Cathedral.: Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society Director of Music and we are looking forward toeven  bigger and better things under his baton.
